Nothing says summer like the smell of fresh tomato plants, which used to be planted near the front of homes as a sign of prosperity. It’s blended with fresh herbs which were gathered at the solstice as it was believed they had more potent properties when collected at the time when they received the most sunlight. Rosemary and thyme are both associated with abundance; and vervain—also called “Holy Herb”— was used for many summertime rituals due to its strong magical and medicinal properties.
